The Write-in Candidate for metro council
The Write-in
Candidate
for metro council

Hello my name is Shane Nuckolls. I am running to represent District 23 on the Louisville Metro Council. I am a Navy Veteran and have worked in customer service and IT for over 20 years.
Over the last few years I have returned to school and earned my Bachelor’s degree and am now attending Law school at the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. I know what it is like to work 60 to 80 hours a week to make ends meet. I know what it is like to raise a family living from paycheck to paycheck.
This is why I know I can represent District 23 well.
I believe we need Accountability and Truth in government and politics. I believe that all people should be accountable for their actions. This includes government officials as well as politicians. I believe that politicians and government officials should be barred from lying to get their way.
This is what I hope to bring to the Metro council, not only a breath of fresh air but TRUTH.
Help me to put the TRUTH back in politics.
Creating a mentorship program throughout JCPS that would allow high schoolers to help/tutor middle schoolers and middle schoolers to help/tutor elementary aged kids during after school hours. I am troubled by the lack of after school programs available to kids outside of sports and believes this can lead to better educational and safety outcomes for students.
Giving the Civilian Review and Accountability Board real authority. The Board is a step in the right direction for bringing more transparency and accountability from LMPD, but I believe it needs to be given the power to actually suspend and fire officers who exhibit egregious work behavior. Otherwise, how effective can the board actually be?
Creating a program and appropriate infrastructure to provide homeless people with transitional housing and job training. The ultimate goal is for participants to have enough success in getting on their feet that they can begin to support themselves and transition out of the program.
